What Town Council said

Here are the 13 points the Mayor raised;

1.  Council supports Family Medical Group practices such as the one at 238 Bertie St, Niagara Primary Care and other physician groups that meet the provincial criteria

2.  Council has supported the recruitment of 4 family physicians over the past 5 years, 2 in the past year.

3.  Town provides partnership funding for the Royal Medicine Week for student assistance programs, clerkships to attract family doctors to Fort Erie

4.  The town helped to fund and create partnerships such as mobile health clinics, nurse practitioners, mental health

5.  Town recently supported 2 expressions of interest from local organizations that wanted to or did apply for interdisciplinary care teams, Bridges community health team has been given funding for that.  Council supported 2 of the considerations;

6.  2.1 million dollars in funding announced for Bridges, formal announcement shortly

7.  Council has identified in 2022 - 2026 strategic plan for primary care including urgent care as a priority objective;

8.  Town has invested over 2.7 million in health related services.

9.  Town contributed $785,000. to our health and welfare initiatives in the past 12 years and will continue to do so; 

10. Town contributed $300,000. toward purchasing from the Region old county fair mall property to build new Gilmore Lodge;

11. Town will be contributing $150,000. to the Hospice Care Facility

12. Town meets regularly with NH as well as other health care providers, federal representatives and provincial MOH Syliva Jones.  Had a meeting with Lynn & Sylvia last month;

13. June 2023 council passed a resolution that called on NH to reverse the decision to cut Urgent Care hours
