Let's Talk Healthcare

Fort Erie Healthcare SOS including the Yellow Shirt Brigade have been very busy enlisting the help of the people in the community to show that we want to SAVE OUR HOSPITAL. We have posted a billboard on Garrison Road, put out lawn signs for a small donation to keep the signs coming, held numerous meetings, put out window signs and now we are putting together our healthcare summit.

Guests for our summit come from far and wide; one thing we have in common is the need to maintain our small community hospitals in our communities to take care of our residents. We are open to suggestions but one thing that we will not waiver from is the need to maintain public community hospitals. Our summit is by invitation only so that we can have open and honest discussion among the participants. We invited community service clubs, local business owners or managers, elected representatives from all levels of government, and healthcare professionals.

"The Healthcare Summit aims to bring together key stakeholders to discuss and address pressing healthcare issues facing our community and beyond. This event presents a unique opportunity for collaborative dialogue and the exchange of innovative ideas to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare services with the goal of restoring Douglas Memorial to a full service, independent public hospital once again.

We are eager to have the participants join us and to help support our endeavours to maintain a high quality system of public healthcare in our community and beyond. This is an opportunity to have open and honest discussions about the needs across the healthcare spectrum. Topics of funding, healthcare policy and required approvals needed to move forward are essential to building a strong system.

Key highlights of the summit include:

-Keynote speeches featuring renowned experts and though leaders in healthcare.

-Open discussions on critical issues such as healthcare funding, and strategies to address healthcare disparities for rural areas.

-Networking opportunities to connect with healthcare providers, and industry experts to foster partnerships and collaborations.

We are excited that the Ridgeway Lions were able to provide the space for our meeting and will provide a light lunch. This is the opportunity to participate in shaping the healthcare being sought after for our community. You may not have the opportunity to attend the Federal Healthcare Summit that many of the larger health systems will be joining, but this is our chance to really make a difference. Thank you to all that are interested; please feel free to drop us a line with any questions or comments.
