Events and Sharing

We've taken your letters to Queens Park and delivered to Premier Ford and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones. It will be up to you to share your responses that you receive from you letters and drop us a line.

We have heard you loud and clear and your message has been that we need to keep our Urgent Care open 24/7 and in fact we want to keep a full service public and independent hospital here in Fort Erie.

The Town Council have agreed through a resolution that we need to keep our Urgent Care open 24/7 and they have sent that message on to Niagara Health and the Regional Board of Niagara.

It continues to be difficult to reach out to so many in our town. Our volunteers have done an excellent job at setting up outside of current local events, like the car show being held by Rays Detailing on Bertie St at the Information Centre on June 15th. This show is being held in memory of Wayne Ashton and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the family. Wayne passed away last year attempting to join our public discussion on Healthcare at the Leisureplex and his Brother and Sister-in-law have been volunteer advocates for our group trying to encourage others to speak out in order to protect Douglas Memorial from becoming a thing of the past.

We need our hospital returned to us. It will be work, but that work will provide for the immediate care and ongoing treatment for so many close to home.

Let's do this Fort Erie, let your councillors, the regional councillors, Niagara Health, the Provincial Government and others know that we will fight to maintain this facility in our home town. Every lawn, every business should have a sign encouraging others to speak out to Save Our Hospital, Save Douglas Memorial.

We will be celebrating Douglas Memorials opening and birthday July 3rd from 4 pm until 7 pm at Douglas Park on the corner of Bertie and Aberdeen. Come and join us for a piece of cake and the sharing of stories.
