December 2011 A jury for an inquest into the death of a local made recommendations regarding the time paramedics must head to a hospital with trauma patients
September 2012 Kevin Smith releases his final report:
Recommends building a new hospital in South Niagara and close all aging hospitals
November 2014 Niagara area hospital foundation amalgamation takes place to form one foundation
September 2015 Niagara Health System begins building strategic plan
September 2019 Residents became concerned when they learn that the Urgent Care in Fort Erie and Port Colborne are to close when new South Niagara hospital opens (2026)
January 2022 Staffing shortages created due to pandemic, Niagara Health announced the Urgent Care would be temporarily closed
February 2023 Niagara Health announces part time hours for Fort Erie and Port Colborne Urgent Care Centers; they will be open from 10 am until 8 pm only.
April 2023 Fort Erie Healthcare SOS is born to push back against the closure of our healthcare facilities in Fort Erie, Port Colborne and Welland by joining with the Niagara Health Coalition and the Ontario Health Coalition encouraging people in Ontario to cast a vote to save public hospitals and in Niagara to save our small hospitals in Fort Erie and Port Colborne
May 2023 Fort Erie Healthcare SOS joins the Niagara Health Coalition to announce over 17,000 people in the Niagara area participated in the Healthcare referendum and overwhelmingly said they want their services maintained in their communities
September 2023 Fort Erie Healthcare SOS and Niagara Health Coalition organize a bus to Queens Park to join the Ontario Health Coalition mass protest against the privatization of healthcare in Ontario
October 2023 Community members sign petitions to compel the Ontario Government to stop the closures of Fort Erie, Port Colborne and Welland hospitals.
October 12 2023 Port Colborne MPP hosts a community forum on healthcare, Fort Erie Healthcare SOS and Niagara Health Coalition attend in support of the community action
November 30 2023 Fort Erie Healthcare SOS and Niagara Health Coalition will host a public discussion on healthcare in Fort Erie at the Leisureplex 6:30 -9:00pm
